After 1989 there were some revisions of the Protestant Bible produced in 1924. The last revision of the Orthodox Bible was done in 1982. With the support of UBS a translation team started working in 1993. The members of the translation team were well known Bulgarian theologians from the Theological Faculty of Sofia University. In 2011 the new translation of the Bible was completed.

The main church in Bulgaria is the Orthodox Church, the Catholic and the Protestant churches are minorities. The main group of Bible readers belongs to the Evangelical churches. The new translation of the Bible is for everyone: Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants and non-believers as well.
